"C" and I recently spent an afternoon making some fun new sculptures
with fat popsicle sticks/craft sticks and velcro stickers.
We saw popsicle sticks with velcro on Pinterest via the Time for Play blog
a while back and thought they looked like fun. I was Pinspired!
Of course we had to put our own artsy twist on it so we decided
to decorate our sticks with markers.
I don't know who had more fun coloring our sticks, "C" or myself!
There is something very satisfying about coloring and drawing on wood.
We colored them and drew designs with simple water soluble markers.
Then you just stick on the velcro circles (they're velcro stickers - no glue necessary!)
and started building sculptures.
I think this would be a super easy summertime travel craft to bring along
on the air plane or on a road trip.
Easy supplies, hardly any mess, and it's a very small and portable craftivity!
You could even stash supplies in your purse and bring these along to a restaurant
to keep the kiddos entertained at your table.
All you need:
Pack of popsicle sticks.
Pack of markers
Package of velcro stickers.
We even got fancy and I showed "C" how to add white accents and dots
with my little white out pen - so fun!
I think we'll be making more of these soon perhaps invite another preschooler friend
over for a crafty play date or see if big sister "E" wants to make some too.
Fondly,
Pink and Green Mama

Love that idea for travel because one would never have to worry about losing toys. Just make more! :)
Thank you for your blog and your fantastic ideas!!!
So cute! I can't wait to do this. And I love the mushrooms.
This has been on my to do list for a while, but I keep forgetting to follow through with it.
